NPR And TED Radio Hour Announce Search For New Host

WASHINGTON, D.C. – WEBWIRE

After seven years, Guy Raz has decided to step away from TED Radio Hour as host and editorial director at the end of the year. TED and NPR will begin the search for a new host to welcome to the air in 2020. We’re incredibly grateful for Guy’s creative vision in building the TED Radio Hour into a powerhouse public radio program that explores big ideas through interviews with the world’s greatest thinkers, scientists, artists, and visionaries. Listeners will continue to enjoy hearing Guy on TED Radio Hour for the rest of the year, and he will remain a partner with NPR as host of How I Built This and the children’s podcast Wow in the World.

NPR and TED will conduct a national search, looking inside NPR and across the media landscape to find a new host for a show that is carried on more than 600 public radio stations and is one of the top podcasts in the world – currently ranked 7th in the Podtrac Top 20 podcast industry ranking. We’re excited for the next chapter of TED Radio Hour, and for everyone to hear all of the new episodes rolling out the remainder of this year.

We will post a job description soon. With its remarkable reach, and deeply relevant content, the TED Radio Hour provides a powerful platform for a talented host to explore the world of ideas. This is one of the top jobs in broadcasting and podcasting today. We are eager to find a host capable of continuing Guy’s commitment to excellence, while having the freedom to add their own, compelling approach.
