Norwalk-based Aditum’s Brian Higgins is the only tech company to make the list.

“Aditum is deploying the access network of the future,” explained Higgins, “we’re helping building owners to meet the needs of bandwidth hungry tenants with our pioneering, consistent and affordable high-speed Internet service that is easy to deploy and scales faster than competing providers – at a fraction of the cost. This is how broadband connectivity networks of the future will be built in cities, suburbs and rural areas in the United States and across the globe,” he concluded.

Aditum, a Norwalk, CT-based technology company focused on revolutionizing how tenants access and connect to the Internet, today announced Brian Higgins, company founder & CEO was among the up-and-coming executives that cracked this year’s Fairfield County Business Journal’s 2019 40 Under Forty list. For more than a decade, Fairfield County Business Journal identifies people under the age of forty who are dynamic leaders and are part of Fairfield County’s business growth. It’s a group notable not just for what they’re doing now but how they got there. Higgins and an array of bright young talent from the corporate, nonprofit, government, education and medical worlds were celebrated at the 15th annual 40 Under Forty awards on June 11th at LaKota Oaks.

“Brian is determined to disrupt the cable Internet monopoly,” says Phil Wright, Higgins’ co-founding tech partner at Forepoint Networks and Accent Consulting Services. “He is an expert in network architecture, design and implementation and this is the second time he is single-handedly responsible for re-imagining how to deploy super-fast broadband services across the United States and beyond.”

Aditum is built on the idea that building owners and managers can be the Internet service provider (ISP) deploying the Aditum technology platform, along with optional Zero Touch Routers, allows the building to deliver lightning-fast, incredibly reliable, high-speed Internet service to tenants. This set up means Aditum’s core technology connects with the building’s landline broadband company, such as fiber optic cable or coaxial cable line, which connects to the routers placed in tenant units to provide Internet service within its customer’s fix location – homes, offices, campus buildings or mix-use space to deliver better results. Using a self-installation system, tenants are able to access the building’s broadband directly and connect to the Internet in minutes, without onerous contracts, data caps or having to wait for an installer. Additionally, with the Aditum platform, building owners can monitor how much data tenants are using and control access at the “switch” of a button. Plus, it is designed to provide owners and managers with a window into their building’s Internet health connectivity by offering them the ability to understand how their broadband connection is performing at all times.

Based on its current success, Aditum is changing the narrative and leveling the playing field as to what it means to provide high-speed Internet service to homes and businesses. The Aditum platform enables Internet access to become a natural extension of a property’s infrastructure, enabling building owners to provide enhanced services to their tenants in the form of competitive, high-quality speeds of up to 10 gigabit of Internet service – while generating revenue for the property.

The payback period can be as little as six months for deploying Internet.

Brian Higgins impact on the local startup ecosystem and his penchant for broadband Internet and tech startups make him a force to be reckoned with. Higgins is, amongst other things the founder of Sound Technology Services, which launched in 2011 to deliver cross-platform, multi-vendor technology solutions to clients throughout North America. In 2010 he invested in a media site, TheHostingNews.com, which grew to be an authoritative voice in the webhosting industry. He founded Forepoint Networks in 2005 with partners. The company quickly grew to cover nearly two and a half thousand square miles of rural Indiana with high-speed microwave Internet. By 2009, the private company was recognized as the fastest and most reliable wireless Internet service provider in the state of Indiana and was acquired by Omnicity. He co-founded Accent Consulting Services and served as a senior network engineer for this 2002 startup and says he’s ‘still a work in progress’.

Raised in Indiana, Brian Higgins moved to Connecticut in 2008 and resides in Norwalk. An avid skier and scuba diver, he has had a life-long obsession with sailing. Brian has sailed competitively and recreationally since he was eight and has won numerous races locally as well as long distance yacht races. He is a member of CompTIA, The ASCII Group and the Westport Chapter of Business Networking International. Higgins studied computer and information technology at Purdue University.
