Important Step in Making the European Soy Supply Chain More Sustainable

WEBWIRE

Royal Agrifirm group has signed the ‘Responsible Soy Declaration’ during a meeting of the FEFAC (European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation). By signing this declaration, Royal Agrifirm Group takes another important step in making the European soy supply chain more sustainable. Agrifirm has signed this declaration because the company aims to take responsibility by making an essential contribution to making the food supply chain more sustainable for future generations.

Companies that sign the declaration agree to take specific actions regarding the responsible sourcing of soybean meal, both from European and non-European producers, for animal feeding purposes at individual company level. The FEFAC soy sourcing guidelines are used as a reference. The objective is to contribute to mainstream market transformation of responsibly produced soy products used in compound feed produced in the EU by 2025. The FEFAC guidelines can be found here.

Dick Hordijk, CEO at Agrifirm: “Only by a shared, long-term commitment to making food supply chains more sustainable, and by agreeing on concrete courses of action, can we make a difference at a global level. Signing this declaration is completely in line with our ‘Responsible Sourcing’ CSR policy. We therefore strongly support it.”
