E. Dorinda Shelley’s “Helium Heels” takes unusual risks, say Foreword Reviews

The author’s third installment of The Helium Books series gets reviewed by one of the most trusted review publications in the book industry.

Grand Rapids, OH, USA – WEBWIRE

An unusual farm-centered children’s book takes unusual risks, which end in a colorful pandemonium.

‘Helium Heels’ is a farm-centered picture book that takes unusual risks,” wrote Karen Rigby in her review of the said children’s book for Foreword Reviews.

Written by E. Dorinda Shelley and illustrated by Eleanor A. Hutton, “Helium Heels” reintroduces Little Black Hen’s ghost babies – Tommy, Willy, Brando, Elliot, and Little Becky – to readers of The Helium Books series. They are revealed to be ghostly pranksters in the barn. Their prank on a skunk gets backfired and, in the process, they get sprayed.

The most exciting part of “Helium Heels” starts when the ghost babies, still not learning their lesson, decide to play a prank on the donkeys by painting their hoofs – with helium red paint.

Thanks to the ghost babies’ latest prank, the day ay the farm turns into “a kaleidoscopic block party,” as what Rigby described it to be.

“The book’s illustrations elevate it with free-wheeling arrangements and pops of color. They are crowded but capture the tone of the book, placing Kath and the animals somewhere between reality and fantasy.”
