Tesco Mother’s Day cards go on sale in support of Race for Life

WEBWIRE

Tesco has launched a range of Mother’s Day cards to raise money for Cancer Research UK. On the back of the card, eight women, who all work for the supermarket, share how their lives, or the lives of those close to them, have been affected by cancer and inspired them to take part in Race for Life.

Through the sale of these cards, Tesco will donate £20,000 to Cancer Research UK, to help fund its life-saving research. They are available at around 400 Tesco stores nationwide, until Mother’s Day. There are 16 card designs available and prices start from £1.50.

The Tesco colleagues featured on the cards are Rachel Ann Swannack (Beverley Superstore), Pam Winchurst (Mansfield Chesterfield Road store), Julie Stokes (Dunfermline Firestation Superstore), Elizabeth Reynolds (Exmouth Superstore), Helen Sayer (Sandhurst Superstore) and Donna Amies (Stourport Superstore), Dawn Matthews (Southend store) and Francesca Ashcroft (Head Office, Welwyn Garden City).

Tesco is celebrating 18 years in partnership with Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. In that time, Tesco colleagues and customers have raised more than £45 million for Cancer Research UK.

Alec Brown, Head of Community at Tesco, said:

“By sharing the stories of these women we hope to support those affected by the disease and also encourage the nation to join the Race for Life which raises vital funds for Cancer Research UK”

Race for Life is a series of events raising money for research into all 200 types of cancer, and is open to everyone, including men, women and children.

Sarah Pickersgill, Head of Events Marketing for Cancer Research UK said:

“We are very grateful to these inspiring women for sharing their moving stories and to everyone at Tesco for all their support. By following their lead, and joining the Race for Life, everyone can make a real difference to people with cancer.”

Laura Washington from Hallmark added:

“Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer, so we know how important it is to raise both funds and awareness of this disease that affects so many lives.

“This is the second year we’ve supported Cancer Research UK with a Mother’s Day card collection exclusive to Tesco, and we are really pleased the range has increased significantly for 2019. The cards are a huge celebration of all the mums and grandmas across the UK, made even more poignant with the inspirational stories from some wonderful women at Tesco.”
