Hawaii DMV Now kiosks offer instant registration renewal at select Safeway locations

Intellectual Technology, Inc. (ITI) and the State of Hawaii are extending DMV service capabilities with the roll-out of the new Hawaii DMV Now kiosk program. In an effort to offer best-in-class customer service, Hawaii and ITI are bringing DMV services to the people by utilizing Safeway supermarkets.
In the past, the only avenues of vehicle renewal were taking a trip to the DMV office to renew your registration, or renewing online and waiting for your registration to be delivered through the mail. These new Hawaii DMV Now kiosks allow for immediate renewal and printing of registration card and license plate sticker. Customers just need their registration renewal notice or license plate number and ZIP code, along with a form of payment.
Customers can follow the easy-to-use touch screen prompts to renew vehicle registrations in as little as two minutes. Hawaii DMV Now kiosks accept payment by credit or debit cards (plus cash at the Kahului DMV location). Instructions and voice prompts in English or Spanish make the SSTs as easy to use as an ATM. Hawaii DMV Now kiosks are available at these 8 locations across the state, with more locations planned for the coming months:

When asked about the new program, Derek S.K. Kawakami, Mayor of Kauai, said, “This self-service kiosk will offer our customers an opportunity to pay for their motor vehicle registrations during their own time, and will also offer them a pleasant, expedited experience.”
“With nearly one million vehicles on O‘ahu, the demand for registration renewals is always great, but with the help of these new kiosks, we’re making it easier for our residents to get out of line and handle these basic tasks at their convenience in areas close to their communities,” said the City and County of Honolulu Mayor, Kirk Caldwell. “This partnership with ITI furthers our commitment to utilize technology to improve on the services that we offer to our residents.”
Finally, Hawaii County Finance Director, Deanna Sako, had this to say, “We are very excited to provide another way for the community to renew their vehicle registrations.  We hope this will be a much more convenient and faster process for everyone.”
This program marks the eleventh such program for ITI, as they operate DMV kiosks in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, and West Virginia. Combined, these kiosk programs processed more than 4.1 million transactions in 2018, helping consumers complete transactions when and where they need, eliminating unnecessary trips to motor vehicle agencies, and extending those agency’s service capabilities.
