Rakuten, Inc. announced plans to launch the Japan Post and HAKO POST Pickup Services Point Present Program on Friday, February 8. The new program awards Rakuten Super Points to shoppers who use the Japan Post or HAKO POST pickup services, provided by Rakuten and Japan Post Co., Ltd., on Rakuten Ichiba, the internet shopping mall operated by Rakuten.

The Japan Post and HAKO POST pickup services enable shoppers to pick up products purchased on Rakuten Ichiba at approximately 20,000 post offices located throughout Japan, as well as Japan Post’s HAKO POST delivery lockers. Users simply purchase relevant products on Rakuten Ichiba, select the desired post office or HAKO POST as the delivery method, and specify the pickup location. Once the product arrives, the users will receive an email notification from Rakuten Ichiba, after which they can pick up the product at the specified location. The new program awards Japan Post and HAKO POST users with 50 Rakuten Super Points each time they use one of these services*1. The program is designed to promote the use of these services and help reduce the number of redeliveries resulting from missed pickups in e-commerce logistics.

Rakuten established the “One Delivery” concept for building a comprehensive logistics and shipping service for Rakuten Ichiba and is undertaking various initiatives to strengthen e-commerce logistics. The company aims to improve delivery efficiency by offering a wide range of product delivery and pickup options. By building a framework that awards points to users, the company hopes to reduce the number of redeliveries that result due to missed deliveries. Rakuten will continue to offer a range of logistics and delivery services that offer higher quality and greater convenience to users.

*1 This program awards points to users who pick up products via the Japan Post or HAKO POST pickup services on or after Friday, February 8.

The “One Delivery” Vision
In recent years, the increasing number of missed redeliveries, staff shortages and other issues faced by the domestic logistics industry are becoming broader issues for society at large, and e-commerce merchants are finding it increasingly difficult to ensure stable operations. In order to address these issues, Rakuten has established its “One Delivery” vision for a comprehensive logistics service to manage processes ranging from product orders to deliveries for merchants on the Rakuten Ichiba marketplace, in which the company is undertaking various initiatives such as Rakuten Super Logistics and Rakuten EXPRESS.
