4 IDFA films nominated for an Oscar

Following the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ announcement earlier today, we are overjoyed to share that 4 IDFA films are nominated for an Oscar. In the Best Documentary Feature category, the following IDFA titles have been nominated:

• Free Solo, directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin

• Hale County This Morning, This Evening, directed by RaMell Ross

• Minding the Gap, directed by Bing Liu

• Of Fathers and Sons, directed by Talal Derki. (IDFA 2017 World Premiere; supported by the IDFA Bertha Fund)

On behalf of all of us at IDFA, we offer a very warm congratulations to the filmmakers. While all of these exceptional films are dear to our hearts, it is particularly exciting to see Of Fathers and Sons among the nominees, as it premiered at IDFA 2017 following support from the IDFA Bertha Fund.

The 91st Academy Awards airs on Sunday, February 24th.
