Dr. E. Dorinda Shelley Sheds Light on the Power of Teamwork in Her Delightful Story

While living on a farm in Ohio, E. Dorinda Shelley found inspiration in writing a delightful tale about an interesting adventure featuring little barnyard animals. The story in “The Helium Egg” unfolds as a little black hen discovers a soft blue egg.  All of a sudden, the egg begins to expand and floats upward so rapidly that everyone in the barn is needed to control the situation. To keep the egg inside the barn, the hen, ducks, geese, donkeys, cats, dogs, and sheep volunteer to help each other. Their gesture and willingness to lend a hand, despite their differences, is indeed a wonderful display of teamwork.

About the Author
Dr. Shelley is a retired dermatologist. She grew up in Missouri, spending weekends on a farm with friendly horses. She, her husband, and three children lived for many years on a “farmette” in NW Ohio, surrounded by many of the animals in this story. This is the second in a series of books she has written and Eleanor Hutton has illustrated.
