PPG to display coatings, inks, specialty materials for printed, flexible electronics at IDTechEx Show

Synthetic substrate, microwave materials among highlighted technologies

PITTSBURGH – WEBWIRE

PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that it will exhibit its full range of advanced coatings, ink and specialty material solutions for printed and flexible electronics at the IDTechEx Show at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California, Nov. 14-15.

PPG will feature its entire array of conductive inks and coatings, as well as microwave absorber materials and PPG TESLIN® substrate, which is a synthetic paper technology that is used globally for commercial printing and specialty applications that require a tough, high-performance material.

Featured PPG electronic materials will include a complete line of polymer-thick-film circuit materials, such as printed conductive, dielectric and resistive inks, and transparent functional coatings for display screens and touchscreen surfaces. Products commonly manufactured with PPG inks include membrane switches, touchpads, radio frequency identification (RFID) and antennas, electroluminescent displays and printed sensors.

As the world leader in providing electromagnetic interference (EMI)/RFI shielding and electrostatic discharge solutions, PPG will display the conductive coatings it supplies to many of the world’s most recognized consumer electronic, medical device and aerospace companies. Typical applications include desktop and laptop computers, mobile phones, entertainment and gaming systems, wireless modem systems, medical devices, and aircraft frame and rotor blade systems.

In addition to offering superior performance properties and lower application costs than competing technologies like vacuum metallization and selective plating, PPG conductive coatings deliver excellent electrical conductivity and superior shielding capability.

PPG also will highlight engineered microwave materials, which are produced by its aerospace coatings business to eliminate EMI problems, reduce cavity resonances and minimize noise in electronic packages. Calibrated to function at frequencies between 10 megahertz and 110 gigahertz, these materials are commonly used in military, aerospace, electronics, telecommunications, automotive, industrial and medical applications.

Visitors to the PPG booth will discover the benefits of PPG Teslin substrate. Durable, flexible and highly printable, the substrate is ideal for printed electronics, RF-shielding solutions, credentials, and functional labels and packaging that demand performance beyond the limits of conventional pulp paper and rigid printable plastics.
