The New Faces Of An Italy That Studies And Works
Two pictures by Oliviero Toscani for United Colors of Benetton tell a story of integration
The new faces of an Italy that studies and works, in Oliviero Toscani’s pictures for United Colors of Benetton.
The first image depicts a group of medical school students – among them a Nigerian, an Indian, a Chadian, an Anglo-Sri Lankan and an Italo-Nigerian – who will one day make important contributions to Italy’s national health system.
The second photo shows a group of professionals. There is a police officer from Enna, a town councillor in the Scandicci Education Department, a priest from the province of Pavia, an imam from Rome, a doctor and a lawyer from Milan. They are originally from Cameroon, Senegal, Indonesia, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, respectively. They are all working to build a better Italy.
These pictures are part of a wider project on integration that United Colors of Benetton launched last fall with two photos of pupils at a multi-ethnic school in Milan.
