2nd annual transformation and health modernization competition for blockchain and telehealth technologies, announces winners, at ConV2X conference, held in New York City

Columbia University hosted over 90 honored speakers and 50 sessions on healthcare and blockchain technology applications and use-cases at ConVerge2Xelerate blockchain and telehealth conference (#ConV2X), held October 24th, 2018. The focus of the One-Day event was to discuss and debate blockchain and health technologies - such as AI, IoT, machine learning, and telehealth.

The judging panel was comprised of six highly distinguished experts including:

  1. Bryan Arkwright, Managing Consultant / Professor, Schumacher Clinical Partners / Wake Forest University School of Law 
  2. G. Anton Decker, President, Health Innovation, Bon Secours Mercy Health 
  3. Gary German, Founder, and CEO, Nonnatech , and 2017 First Place Winner
  4. Gil Alterovitz, PhD, Faculty, Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital
  5. John D. Halamka, MD, MS, CIO, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Beth Israel Deaconess System 
  6. Karim Babay, CEO & Chief Investment Officer, Intrinsic Value Investment Partners 


Fred Bazzolli, Editor-in-Chief, Health Data Managment, and ConV2X media partner, tallied judges votes in real time. Judges used six criterion to select winners:  (1) identification of medical problem or technology gap, (2) technical solution, (3) relevance to blockchain or telehealth sector, (4) ability to monetize, (5) caliber and expertise of team, and (6) overall impression.

Competition entrants were asked to focus on the following areas:

  3. Educating patients on new technology, use, application, and outcomes
  4. Enhanced standard of care for care-giving, remote care, elderly care, and urban care
