EMLab P&K Established for Asbestos Analysis in Chicago, IL through NVLAP Accreditation

EMLab P&K, a TestAmerica company and a leading commercial indoor air quality (IAQ) laboratory in North America, announces the accreditation for PLM bulk asbestos analysis by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) (NVLAP Lab Code 600194-0).
 
With many of Chicago’s historical buildings earmarked for renovations, developers and facility engineers have been working continually on the removal of asbestos laden materials from Chicago’s aging infrastructure. With these planned renovations, comes a fresh start for vacant buildings, with the health of those who will operate within this built environment kept in mind. Cook County Hospital, which has sat idle in Chicago’s Near West Side for close to 16 years, was purchased by the Hyatt House/Hyatt Place hotel chain, in partnership with other mixed-use developers. In cases such as these, and with a renovations price tag of $1 billion dollars for this project alone, the need for quality analysis of building materials has become apparent.
