American Board of Industrial Hygiene® Recognizes Two Outstanding CIHs with Prestigious Awards

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2018 Lynn C. O’Donnell Lifetime Achievement and Impact Awards.

Earlier this month, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene® presented its most distinguished annual awards. For this year, ABIH® proudly recognized the professional accomplishments of two outstanding Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs):  John Mulhausen PhD, CIH, CSP, recipient of the Lynn C. O’Donnell Lifetime Achievement Award, and G. Scott Dotson, PhD, CIH, recipient of the Impact Award.  The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given by ABIH® for exemplary contributions to the practice of occupational and environmental hygiene culminating over a lifetime of work. The Impact Award is given for making a major contribution to the practice of occupational and environmental hygiene.
 
Dr. Mulhausen retired in 2018 from 3M where he worked for 31 years in a variety of health and safety roles, most recently as Director of Corporate Safety and Industrial Hygiene. He has authored/co-authored over 100 presentations, publications, or professional development courses in forums throughout the world and contributed advice and expertise on various working committees sponsored by NIOSH, AIHA, ACGIH, and the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine. John is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, a Fellow of the AIHA, and recipient of AIHA’s Edward J. Baier Technical Achievement Award in 2002 and Henry F. Smyth Award in 2009.
 
Dr. Dotson is a Managing Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk. He has a PhD in Toxicology and an MS in Occupational Safety and Health. He is also currently an officer of the AIHA Risk Committee. Prior to joining Cardno ChemRisk, Scott was employed by NIOSH for over 10 years and was responsible for conducting research aimed at characterizing the risk associated with chemical exposures and integrating novel risk assessment methods into occupational health.
 
The two awards were presented during the ABIH® Forum at the 2018 American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition (AIHce EXP) in Philadelphia, PA on Monday, May 21, 2018.
