WEBWIRE

Films in Progress, the rendezvous held twice yearly at the San Sebastian Festival and Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse, has the objective to promote the completion of Latin American feature films having difficulties at the post-production stage and to promote their international distribution. The feature films must have a runtime of more than 60 minutes and they must be produced totally or partially by producers from Latin American countries.

Since its creation, this professional initiative has contributed to the completion and commercialisation of more than 150 Latin American productions and has fostered the international reach of creators such as Jayro Bustamante, Amat Escalante, Alejandro Fernández Almendras, Ciro Guerra, Sebastián Lelio, Juan Sebastián Mesa, Mariana Rondón, Pepa San Martín, Emiliano Torres and Lorenzo Vigas, among others.

Films screened at the last editions of Films in Progress, including La Familia, by Gustavo Rondón; Ferrugem / Rust by Aly Muritiba; Marilyn by Martín Rodríguez; Não devore meu coraçao / Don’t Swallow My Heart, Alligator Girl! by Felipe Bragança; La novia del desierto / The Desert Bride by Cecilia Atán and Valeria Pivato; Los perros by Marcela Said; Los silencios by Beatriz Seigner; Rey by Niles Atallah; o Temporada de caza / Hunting Season by Natalia Garagiola, have later been selected and won awards at important international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, San Sebastian, Rotterdam, Venice or Sundance.

Films in Progress 34, to take place on September 24, 25 and 26, will coincide with the VII Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum and the second edition of Glocal in Progress.
