Guggenheim to Keep Galleries Open until 9 pm on Tuesdays and Present Films, Readings, and Talks, Plus Music and Refreshments in the Rotunda

NEW YORK, NY – WEBWIRE

The Guggenheim Museum will extend its hours to 9 pm on Tuesdays from June 19 through September 11, offering increased access to summer exhibitions as well as a range of events and activities, including poetry readings, artist talks, films, lectures, and drop-in programs—many of which are free with admission. “Summer of Know,” a conversation series pairing contemporary artists with practitioners and thought leaders at the forefront of today’s most urgent social, political, environmental, and legal issues, will also return, starting June 19 at The Wright restaurant on the first floor of the museum. Refreshments and light fare will be available for purchase on the first floor of the rotunda and in Cafe 3. The Guggenheim Store will remain open until 9:30 pm on these evenings.

Exhibitions on view will include Giacometti, a major survey in the rotunda of the 20th-century master Alberto Giacometti; One Hand Clapping, featuring new commissions by Cao Fei, Duan Jianyu, Lin Yilin, Wong Ping, and Samson Young that address our changing relationship with the future; and works by Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Vasily Kandinsky, and Pablo Picasso from the Guggenheim’s permanent collection in the Thannhauser Gallery.

Programs that are free with admission include self-guided gallery activations, drop-in projects for families, and an August film program held in conjunction with Giacometti. “Summer of Know” and other programs require a separate ticket. Programs vary by week, and discounts are available on some advance ticket purchases. For more information, visit guggenheim.org/org.
