The Great Recession was a hard time for many, including Peter Lagomarsino. While searching for an architecture job, Peter worked as a cab driver. His conversations with passengers resulted in a critique of the current system and the unsustainability of the American dream.

From October 11 to 15, 2017, during the 69th Frankfurt Book Fair, architect and author Peter Lagomarsino’s book, Confessions in a Crown Vic: A Commentary on the American Dream, was displayed in LitFire Publishing’s booth. Here he details his journey as an architect, the challenges he encountered during the Great Recession, and his perspective on the real state of the American dream.

The Great Recession was a hard time for many, including Peter Lagomarsino. While searching for an architecture job, Peter worked as a cab driver. His conversations with passengers resulted in a critique of the current system and the unsustainability of the American dream. Peter Lagomarsino also includes several insights on urban sprawl. The book also features one of the last interviews with the twentieth century’s critical urban planner (who at the time was the last living student of Frank Lloyd Wright), Paolo Soleri, and an interview with Phoenix Transportation engineer, Louis Lagomarsino (Peter Lagomarsino’s uncle).

The second edition of the book is published by LitFire Publishing. This new version contains additional reviews on several topics like the media’s influence on propaganda, perpetuation of violence in activism, and the replacement of democracy with socialism.
