Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

ABIH Directors play a vital role in maintaining our status as the premier credentialing organization for the Industrial Hygiene profession and will be ensuring the future growth of the Qualified Environmental Professional® (QEP®) credential.

The due date for self-nominations for three Board of Director positions at the American Board of Industrial Hygiene® is June 15th. All Interested and qualified candidates have until then to submit completed, official nomination packets.

The Board Selection Committee will then review all candidates who have successfully submitted their information for consideration. Candidates will be elected in the fall to fill the open positions. The Board of Directors is currently comprised of twelve Diplomates (ABIH® credential holders, including CIH®s and QEP®s) who hold four-year terms and one public member with a two-year term. The objective of the Board composition is to have a broad representation from the professional community and public input.

The Board meets face-to-face, for two days, three times per year.  These meetings are expected to take place in late February or early March, immediately before AIHce and at the AIHA Fall Meeting. The Board also holds nine monthly conference calls to conduct business and monitor progress.

“Each year, two to three new Board members are elected,” said Jeffrey Miller, CIH® and Chair of ABIH®. “ABIH Directors play a vital role in maintaining our status as the premier credentialing organization for the Industrial Hygiene profession and will be ensuring the future growth of the Qualified Environmental Professional® (QEP®) credential. Diplomates are encouraged to submit their self-nominations before the approaching deadline for consideration as candidates for the Board of Directors.”
