Financial wealth does not necessarily equate to absolute happiness. This holds true for John Oliver Nelson, the founder of the Kirkridge Retreat Center. Rita M. Yeasted aims the spotlight on his generosity in her book, Jon.

Financial wealth does not necessarily equate to absolute happiness. This holds true for John Oliver Nelson, the founder of the Kirkridge Retreat Center. Rita M. Yeasted aims the spotlight on his generosity in her book, “Jon.”

Rita wrote the biography after much convincing from John’s longtime friend, Professor Rustom Roy, who wanted to honor him. It shares the story of how John lived his life through doing corporal works of mercy, such as providing food for the hungry and giving shelter to homeless people. The book also shows his leadership skills, as he is a figure responsible for the reemergence of the Church in the country’s culture. The founding of the Kirkridge Retreat Center in 1942 is also discussed.

Dr. Gregg E. Townsley gave the book a five-star rating on Amazon. In his review, he noted how it was “the only comprehensive book” he read about John’s life story.

“Jon” was featured by LitFire Publishing at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017. The event took place at the Messe Frankfurt from October 11 to 15.
