ABB‘s latest innovations in home automation are helping to create technologically advanced homes for consumers who not only value sustainability and energy saving but who also prioritize design and comfort.

Developed by Italian family-owned company, Brusa Building, their eco-houses are constructed with renewable and recycled materials. Due to the high thermal properties of such materials and the integration of solar technology the homes generate much of their own energy, with the use of solutions and applications developed in collaboration with ABB increasing standards in energy performance, comfort and security.

ABB has well established technology for the management of renewable energy and a wide range of solar inverter applications, as well as home automation systems, such as Mylos free@home to enable the creation of a truly ‘smart’ home.

Brusa Building co-founder, Andrea Brusa, explains: “Ours are technologically advanced homes, which means the choice of technology used to equip them is critical. That is why it is important for us to be supported by a market leading company like ABB.

“We have had a partnership with ABB for more than a decade and we appreciate the solutions they offer, the quality of the materials used and most importantly, the technical assistance ABB provides. For us, an important factor is the collaborative approach taken by ABB’s sales and technical staff, the innovative solutions available for the development of our projects and their ability to comply with requested timelines"

With Mylos free@home, all functions inside and around the home can be handled with ease, with the ability to personalize them according to individual preferences, providing comfort, energy savings and security.

For example, you can specify the required brightness in different rooms by scheduling bright scenery to automatically adjust the shade and the intensity of the lights. Alternatively, you can choose the ideal climate to suit your needs and with the recent integration of SONOS wireless sound broadcasting into the Mylos free@home app, you can now control your music throughout the home.

Total control continues when you leave the property, with a single command to turn off all lights, lower the temperature and activate the security system, ABB’s DomusTech Free Security System, which has been designed to be perfectly integrated with Mylos free@home.

Daniele Formaggio, Product Marketing Director for ABB added: “Thanks to ABB technology, homes can be tailored to the needs of those who live in them, maximizing comfort and optimizing energy use. The system is intuitive and can be controlled at the touch of a button, through voice command, or even remotely via a smartphone or tablet. System configuration is very simple allowing a client to change the functions independently, without the need for a trained technician.

“Simplicity is also front of mind when considering the installer both for new build and retrofit projects. You can for example change light points, integrate services and implement new functions without undertaking any building work, simply reprogramming any existing technology which results in considerable time and cost savings.“

Andrea Brusa concludes: “Eco-sustainability, energy saving, innovative technologies and wooden homes are a solid reality for today, tomorrow and beyond. Brusa Building is looking to the future and is currently exploring ways of integrating sustainable mobility solutions, using ABB’s electric vehicle charging products, into our designs. By doing so we hope to make our structures even more connected to modern needs.”
