Major life changes, such as moving to a new town, usually take a while to adjust to. For author Raney Wright, the change—once he discovered that his army family was moving to Alaska—was easy. His autobiography, A Frog’s Tale, takes a look at how he adjusted and matured in his new environment.

The book is set in Alaska prior to, during, and after its statehood. When his soldier father informed the family they were moving again, Wright was a little upset but eventually embraced the new adventure. First moving to Douglas, Arkansas, in 1956, the adventures began and continued when the family moved across the Gastineau Channel to Juneau. Aside from chronicling his road to maturity, it presents many adventures (and misadventures) with family and friends.

Wright describes his autobiography as “a feel-good read.” He hopes his adventures of growing up in the Last Frontier reaches young teenagers and those interested in the state of Alaska. Amazon customer Sandra S. Sharpe, who gave the book a five-star rating, says the book is “well written and very enjoyable. It is one of those books that leave a pleasant feeling as you read it. Please write another that continues the tale.”
