BT Spain increases market share by 1.3 points to 20.5% according to Spanish telecommunications regulator.

BT in Spain has strengthened its position as the highest ranking alternative provider in the business data transmission market, with more than a 20 per cent market share in the recently published 2008 report by the Commission of the Telecommunications Market (CMT).

The third largest data services supplier, with a four per cent of market share, is more than 16 points behind BT. BT managed to see the strongest rise of market share amongst operator in the Spanish market, making it the largest alternative operator, just behind Spain’s incumbent provider.

Jacinto Cavestany, country manager of BT in Spain said: “The findings of the report verify BT as the best alternative in the business market of telecommunication services. We are very pleased that the CMT report corroborates the good work done by BT, which is a direct result of the confidence and trust from our customers. This year’s report is extremely valuable because it has a very coherent structure and contains a detailed analysis of the sector and its evolution. In 2008 BT’s growth was moderate compared to previous years and I think that most of the key indicators point out that 2009 will be a year of consolidation for the industry.”
