FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tour Down Under an Adventure for Adelaide Tour Operator

Adelaide-based tour operator, The Adventure Collective, has been appointed as an Official Tour Operator of the Tour Down Under to be held Adelaide and regional South Australia in January 2010.

As an Australian Accredited Tourism Business and experienced cycling and active tour operator, The Adventure Collective is well qualified to host visitors to South Australia for the ProTour Cycling event.

South Australia’s Tourism Minister, Dr Jane Lomax-Smith, announced The Adventure Collective as an Official Tour Operator, on the back of record growth of sales for the 2009 event, along with high interest for the coming year.

“This year’s Tour Down Under, which saw Lance Armstrong’s comeback to world road cycling, attracted record crowds and visitors,” commented Dr Lomax-Smith.

"The Official Tour Operators provide the experience and know-how to create cycling holidays of a lifetime for visitors travelling to South Australia for the Tour Down Under. The packaged tours offer choices for all cyclists, from the novice to the most experienced, who want to combine a cycling holiday with watching the biggest bike race in Australia.”

Mr Peter Solly, CEO of The Adventure Collective, added, “I have had a long involvement in the Tour Down Under, right from the early development stages, and it is with great pleasure that myself and our great team have the privilege of hosting participants from interstate and overseas to Adelaide for the Tour Down Under.”

As an Official Tour Operator, The Adventure Collective is working hard to bring people to South Australia for this hallmark sporting event. With four packages available, there is something to suit those looking for a complete Tour Down Under experience over eight days, to those with only a weekend or even a day to spare. Participants will gain a unique insight into the world of professional cycling, with the opportunity to cycle sections of each stage at a leisurely pace, assisted by support crew and back-up vehicle, then enjoy lunch from carefully selected vantage points while the race whizzes by.

Past participant, Megan Blank from New Zealand, commented on her experience with The Adventure Collective: “Tour Down Under is a great event, but it’s even better when you’re with The Adventure Collective! [They] made everything so easy for us. We really enjoyed the company of the other people on the tour and the staff were friendly, helpful and most of all good fun.”

The 2010 Tour Down Under will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australia from 17-24 January 2010.
