IPC Media was the biggest-winning consumer publisher at last night’s PPA Awards, walking away with wins for NME.COM, Nuts and woman&home, while Wallpaper* was highly commended.

woman&home was named Consumer Magazine of the Year. Editorial director Sue James says: “For woman&home to be so highly recognised shows the strength of the magazine and I’m delighted for my team.”

The judges said: “Wallpaper is a tremendously assured product that really understands and meets the needs of its readers. The magazine has achieved incredible growth in an impossible market – a very worthy winner.”

NME.COM won Interactive Consumer Magazine of the Year. Editor David Moynihan says: “The award recognises the incredibly hard work done by the editorial team and the website developers over the past year. It also shows how important it is to get the magazine and the site aligned, working editorially as one team.”

The judges said: “NME.COM is a site which has consistently dominated its sector, with fantastic cross media integration, first class content and excellent commercial results.”

Consumer Media Brand of the Year was awarded to Nuts. Publishing director Jo Smalley says: “Few other brands have totally dominated their sector like we have, and Nuts has truly excelled across all platforms, from the WKD Nuts Football Awards to becoming the number one men’s lifestyle website in Britain. I’m delighted for the brand and particularly for the team who put so much of their passion and talents into it.”

The judges said: “Nuts responds at every turn to the needs and desires of its audience, sharing the passion of the reader and demonstrating a single-minded commercial exploitation of the brand.”

In addition, Wallpaper’s art director Meirion Pritchard received the highly commended award in the Designer of the Year category.

IPC Media is one of the leading consumer magazine publishers in the UK. Its five publishing divisions are: IPC Southbank, IPC TX, IPC Ignite, IPC Connect and IPC Inspire. IPC is wholly owned by Time Warner, one of the world’s largest media groups.
