Con Edison Employees Star in New Videos On Going Green, Saving Cash

WEBWIRE

NEW YORK – A Brooklyn native is the star of a new Con Edison video that offers tips on how to save cash while staying cool this summer.

Accessible from the homepage of www.coned.com, the video is the first in a series that uses straightforward conversations with Con Edison employees to build on the company’s Power of Green campaign.

“Our employees used their own words and worked without scripts, which is why we think people will find the videos appealing,” said Frances A. Resheske, senior vice president of public affairs. “Their advice comes from years of experience working in the energy business.”

In the first video, Vito Vavallo, a 34-year veteran at Con Edison, shares tips in a two-minute segment.

“What I do in my house, and I recommend it to anyone, is I buy a little stand up fan. Along with the central air conditioning I have a little fan,” says Vavallo. “Your goal is to run the air conditioner as little as possible to get the best cooling that you can get and not bring up that cost.”

Vavallo adds these tips to save money:

* Close your curtains to keep your home from becoming a hot house.
* Seal drafts for year-round comfort.

Each video will feature a Con Edison employee talking directly to customers about his or her strategies for conserving energy, saving money, and helping the environment. The videos will also be posted on YouTube at www.youtube.com/ConEdisonNY.
