The Canadian Red Cross Selects PerfectDisk to Conserve Funds and Improve IT Systems Performance
Humanitarian Organization Runs PerfectDisk to Increase IT Equipment Productivity/Longevity
GAITHERSBURG, MD -- 01/11/2005 -- Raxco Software’s PerfectDisk® has been selected by the Canadian Red Cross to improve the capacity and speed of the organization’s servers and to free-up bottlenecks created by severely fragmented disks.
“PerfectDisk has helped keep our systems running smoothly during peak usage periods, such as disasters. We have found that it is easy to manage, integrates well with how we manage our resources already, and through our reports we have seen a major drop in file/folder fragmentation and increases in contiguous free space,” said Ryan Veino, Infrastructure Support Technician for the Canadian Red Cross.
The Canadian Red Cross is a national society and operates out of a National Office, four zone offices and hundreds of branch offices. Zones are divided geographically: Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada. There are 1,700 employees in 150 offices across Canada. For the financial year ended March 31, 2003, the Canadian Red Cross had total revenues of $188 million.
Using PerfectDisk on its servers that are accessed by its 1,700 users, the Canadian Red Cross has also been able to reduce the amount of disk input/output operations. The applications that consume the most disk space and cause high levels of fragmentation are File Servers, Microsoft® SQL and Microsoft Exchange. Because PerfectDisk runs fast and efficiently on several hundred gigabyte drives and leaves them completely defragmented with large amounts of contiguous free space, PerfectDisk was the obvious choice for the Canadian Red Cross.
“Speed, dependability, and increased efficiency are hallmarks of PerfectDisk, and terms I would associate with an organization like the Canadian Red Cross,” said Joe Abusamra, vice president of operations at Raxco Software. “It’s nice to know that Raxco can play a small part helping others get the job done.”
