Nokia Siemens Networks upgrades Andorra Telecom’s fixed network in line with global usage trends

Andorra Telecom, the national communications service provider in this South West European principality, continues to upgrade its fixed line infrastructure with next generation IP capabilities to enhance the customer experience, while reducing its costs. Andorra Telecom has selected Nokia Siemens Networks for this upgrade, which will also enable the operator to offer new service opportunities in the future.

“We want to be able to offer our clients innovative and advanced telecom services that address their everyday needs. In addition, like any other business, we need to run an efficient operation, as it allows us to provide better services and greater cost benefits to our customers. The investment in our network integration and upgrade was important in this regard,” said Jaume Salvat, CEO of Andorra Telecom. “We chose Nokia Siemens Networks as a partner due to its strong track record in professional services and its proven expertise in next generation networks.”

Nokia Siemens Networks will simplify Andorra Telecom’s current network architecture by integrating its existing fixed line networks with a Voice over IP (VoIP) platform. This will enable the operator to improve the quality of services offered to subscribers. It also marks Andorra Telecom’s first step towards all IP network, which it can leverage to introduce new services in a simple and cost-effective way.

“This upgrade helps Andorra Telecom address important challenges today, while providing the option to explore a whole new range of opportunities in the future,” said Joăo Picoito, Head of South West Europe at Nokia Siemens Networks. “It is a great example of how traditional telecommunications businesses can prepare for the future, with some simple technology investments today.”

Nokia Siemens Networks will implement a Next Generation Network softswitching solution with a related management system for Andorra Telecom, and also provide consulting and system integration services.
