TV Land PRIME to Showcase Roseanne’s Hilarious Perspective on the Economy With a Marathon of Recession-Themed Episodes

LOS ANGELES.- The Emmy(R) award-winning series, “Roseanne,” comes to TV Land with a week-long marathon of raucous recession-themed episodes starting Friday, June 5th through Friday, June 12th from 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. ET/PT. The series will air regularly on TV Land Monday through Friday from 12 a.m. - 1 a.m. ET/PT and from 9 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET/PT in TV Land PRIME, the network’s primetime programming block designed to appeal to the attitudes, life stage and interests of people in their 40s. Extended viewing blocks will also air weekly on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

“Roseanne’s take on life is timeless and hilarious. The show remains so relevant and relatable to us some 20 years after its premiere,” stated Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. “’Roseanne’ is a quintessential American television treasure that serves up more reality than some reality shows on TV today.”

Loosely based on the real life stories of comedienne Roseanne Barr, the award-winning sitcom focuses on the life of Roseanne Conner, a blue-collar working mother with a big mouth, big sense of humor and an even bigger personality. Roseanne not only tends to her home and takes care of her three kids -- Becky, Darlene and D.J. -- (Alicia Goranson and later Sarah Chalke; Sarah Gilbert and Michael Fishman), she also takes care of husband Dan (John Goodman) who was her high school sweetheart all while holding down a full-time job and trying to keep her family afloat.

Other regulars on the hit show throughout its run were: Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf), Roseanne’s younger sister who eventually became a cop; Crystal Anderson (Natalie West), Roseanne’s best friend who later married Dan’s father Ed (Ned Beatty) and became her mother-in-law; Becky’s husband, Mark (Glen Quinn), and David (Johnny Galecki) who the Conner family allowed to move into their home after he and daughter Darlene dated. Darlene and David were later married. Over the nine year run, the show had many guest appearances including: George Clooney as Booker, the foreman at the factory Jackie and Roseanne worked at and Jackie’s love interest for the first season; Martin Mull as Leon Carp, Roseanne’s boss at the diner she later worked at and finally the late Estelle Parsons as Bev, Roseanne and Jackie’s meddling mother.
