Motorola Introduces New Range of TETRA Solutions for Commercial and Enterprise Users

New solutions extend Motorola’s TETRA portfolio to offer the most comprehensive TETRA solutions available

(NYSE: MOT), world leader in the development and deployment of TETRA communication solutions, today announced the launch of the Dimetra IP Micro TETRA switch and the CEP400 TETRA portable terminal. These new intuitive, user friendly products extend the reach of TETRA, delivering cost effective and easy to deploy solutions to commercial and enterprise users.

The easy to deploy, Dimetra IP Micro solution builds on Motorola’s Dimetra IP family of TETRA Solutions which deliver mission critical benefits using state of the art trunked digital radio using the TETRA standard. The solution supports features such as integrated voice and data services and full duplex IP telephony calls – important to commercial and enterprise users such as construction, manufacturing, mining and transport, resorts and large hotels. The Dimetra IP Micro also provides an interface to conventional analog systems making it ideally suited for operators upgrading from analogue to advanced digital solutions and require a smooth migration path.

Dimetra IP Micro uses the field proven MTS range of TETRA Base Stations which deliver market leading performance and coverage. Radio sites are linked to the Dimetra IP Micro using standard Ethernet interfaces which means saving on the cost of leased lines and the remote access function allows system monitoring and diagnostics to be done centrally which can further reduce maintenance costs.

Motorola has also announced the launch of the CEP400, a new feature-rich digital two-way portable TETRA radio designed to help organisations, enhance personnel safety and increase operational efficiency. The rugged, robust and easy-to-use CEP400 offers users a cell phone style user interface and gives mobile workers in tough and demanding environments amazing loud and clear call clarity. This ensures they stay connected, informed and productive even in challenging or high-risk environments.

Commercial customers with legacy analogue trunked radio systems are starting to adopt digital technology in part due to government spectrum regulations as well as economic considerations. TETRA solutions have been perceived as expensive outside of the public sector but Motorola’s solutions have been designed to be affordable and cost effective.
