Richard motors ahead at The Funding Corporation

Richard Cox, Divisional Manager of Motor Operations and Customer Services at The Funding Corporation, has been promoted to Head of Motor Operations after championing a number of successful business initiatives for the finance company.

Richard joined The Funding Corporation in 2003 through the acquisition of leading specialist sub prime car dealer, ACF Car Finance where he had been employed since 1999.

Starting his career at just 18-years of age, Richard worked in the sales showroom at ACF Car Finance’s Birmingham branch, before specialising in finance and eventually securing the position of Finance and Business Manager at the flagship Walsall site.

Developing in his role quickly, Richard shared his expertise by providing training to a number of the other branches, before moving to Chester in 2003 where he set up a central finance department and broadened his financial services experience through managing a variety of different areas including underwriting, customer services and motor operations.

Responsible for a team of 30 members of staff, Richard has also played an integral part in spearheading the FSA principle of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), ensuring TCF policy is applied across all areas of the business, helping to implement an internal marketing communications campaign and regular TCF training at all levels of the business.

Richard commented: “Starting my career as a salesman has been invaluable in providing me with a good grounding in used car sales and car finance. I have enjoyed accumulating my experience in all the different areas of the business over the years, and it has been even more rewarding having the opportunity to extend this experience to other branches of the business.

“Spearheading campaigns such as the TCF activities has also been very beneficial in ensuring staff not only have the best possible training available to them, but it has helped enhance our service to customers by encouraging staff to recommend improvements and give feedback.”
