SUNNYVALE, CA -- Jan. 10, 2005 -- AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced the company will join HP as the exclusive partner of the “YOU + HP Experience,” powering HP desktop and notebook PCs featured on the tour with AMD Athlon(TM) 64 processor technology. The “YOU + HP Experience” features custom, hands-on demonstrations that showcase the versatile power of AMD64 technology for music, photography, video, home/office computing solutions and gaming. By collaborating with HP, AMD has an opportunity to directly reach consumers as they interact with AMD Athlon 64 processor-based desktop and notebook PCs. The interactive tour will continue to participate at the largest consumer events around North America through November 2005 including SuperBowl XXXIX, NCAA Final Four and the Boston Marathon.

“Leading the industry in technology that powers digital entertainment products, AMD once again demonstrates our dedication to educating consumers and small businesses on the benefits of AMD64 technology and how it can enrich their everyday lives,” said Pat Moorhead, vice president, global marketing, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD. “By teaming up with HP, potential customers can test-drive the high-performing AMD Athlon 64 processor-based desktop PCs and notebooks, and experience the same technology currently used by the top movie, music and gaming industry artists and producers.”

“Early in 2004, HP launched the ’YOU + HP Experience’ tour as a high-profile way to deliver a big, bold, rich, and powerful experience for consumers,” said Kathy Stromberg, vice president, Consumer Segment Marketing -- Americas, HP. “We are truly building an emotional connection with consumers by providing a definitive hands-on, up-close, personal-touch experience that showcases the industry’s best digital photography and entertainment products. Fueled by AMD64 technology, our product lineup is inspiring and empowering consumers to enhance their lives with fun and easy-to-use solutions.”

AMD delivers extraordinary multimedia performance that enables consumers to connect seamlessly to the power of today’s digital entertainment world. PCs and notebooks powered by AMD Athlon 64 processors are driving the convergence of leading-edge digital home entertainment and computing, representing the next leap forward in the digital lifestyle. As client computing draws closer to the day when 32-bit-only systems become obsolete, consumers can seamlessly transition to their favorite digital entertainment and multimedia 64-bit applications to experience jaw-dropping performance.

The “YOU + HP Experience,” an 8,000-square-foot, semi-permanent structure, offers free admission and provides an array of entertaining and educational experiences for visitors of all ages. The 200’ x 40’ structure features more than 25 easy-to-use AMD Athlon 64 processor-based HP products in a dozen “immersion” concourses -- with exhibits that showcase the depth and breadth of HP’s digital entertainment and photography products, as well as those products powered by AMD64 technology.

Since March 2004, the “YOU + HP Experience” has been centrally positioned at more than 30 high-profile events in the United States and Canada; visited by more than 900,000 people; and has generated a 95 percent favorable response from visitors. In 2005, the tour is expected to welcome its one-millionth visitor to test-drive HP and AMD products at major consumer events in North America. The tour features opportunities for consumers to:

-- Experience the powerful combination of AMD64 technology and the HP Media Center PC system in a guided tour of the World of Digital Entertainment concourse with music, photo, video and TV. Consumers will also learn how to easily replicate and extend those capabilities throughout their own home.

-- Record a live digital music session or experience a “green screen” video bike ride with Lance Armstrong. With an AMD64-powered digital studio and HP solutions, visitors will be able to commemorate their experience by recording digital video footage of their ride or burning their musical performance onto a CD.

-- Use HP Media Center PCs and notebooks powered by AMD64 technology in the “CyberLounge” to print and send photos, e-mail family and friends, keep up with the news of the day or shop online.

-- Find out about the latest AMD promotions and “where to buy” AMD Athlon 64 processor-based HP desktop and notebook PCs at retail outlets and online.
