Applications Modernization Contract Recompete Extends Unisys Longstanding Relationship with U.S. Joint Forces Command

BLUE BELL, Pa. – The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) has awarded Unisys (NYSE: UIS) a firm fixed price task order to provide IT support services to the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) in Norfolk, Va. Under the three-year task order, awarded under the DISA Encore II contract, Unisys will assist the command in implementing the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Net-Centric Data Strategy for making military data more visible, accessible, understandable, trustworthy and interoperable for all of the military services, combatant commands and major DoD agencies.

The award is a recompete of work Unisys has performed under successive task orders since April 2005.

USJFCOM is one of 10 combatant commands within the DoD and oversees a force of more than a million men and women, spanning USJFCOM’s component commands and subordinate activities. Among its missions, USJFCOM leads efforts to integrate military capabilities among the various Defense commands and agencies and to develop solutions to address joint military interoperability challenges.

Under the new agreement, Unisys will continue to assist USJFCOM in implementing the DoD net-centric data strategy with a particular focus on enhancing the capabilities for command and control (C2) of joint military forces. Unisys will accomplish this through such activities as developing common C2 data exchange standards, implementing a service-oriented architecture based on web services, building out C2 data models, and analyzing business/mission activities.

“Unisys is very pleased to be able to continue supporting the Joint Forces Command in this extremely important, pioneering work that will promote information sharing among various communities within the DoD,” said Jim Geiger, managing partner, Department of Defense, Unisys Federal Systems. “This activity is an essential component of the DoD strategy to provide effective command and control data to support military personnel in the field.”
