New Washington, DC Book of Photography Released

WEBWIRE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

City Photos and Books, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of its fourth book of city photography: Washington, DC Photographs: Monuments and Icons, by Rodney L. Arroyo. This book showcases many of Washington DC’s historic buildings, monuments and other important icons. For a visitor, it can be a wonderful keepsake of many important and historic sites in the nation’s capital. Local residents can also take pride in sharing this book with family and friends or keeping it as a reminder of the many reasons to be proud of the city.

Another reason this book is important is that a portion of the proceeds benefits the Neighbors in Need Fund of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region. The goal of the Neighbors in Need Fund is to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the region during the current economic crisis. It supports effective nonprofit organizations in the Greater Washington, DC region that provide “safety net” services such as food, clothing and shelter. For more information, visit www.cfncr.org.

The book’s author, city planner and photographer Rod Arroyo, who is based in the Detroit, Michigan region, was inspired to create this book last year while visiting Washington, DC with one of his sons. He returned to the area during the National Cherry Blossom Festival in late March 2009 to complete principal photography for the project.

The new Washington, DC book retails for $20.00 and is currently available on Amazon.com, Target.com, and through the City Photos and Books, Inc. web site. It will soon be available in local stores in the Washington, DC area.

Arroyo’s first three books, Birmingham, Michigan: A Year of Photographs, Royal Oak, Michigan Photographs, and Northville’s Mill Race Village: Photographs of a Living Museum, were published last year and are also available on Amazon.com and Target.com
