April 30, 2009, Sisters Ore. – O’Keeffe’s Company, the Sisters, Oregon manufacturer of Working Hands, Healthy Feet and Life Out There crèmes that provide relief for severely dry and cracked skin, announced today it has received the 2009 Golden Hammer Packaging Award for the 25th Annual Golden Hammer Awards. The Awards, presented by Home Channel News, called for the best in home channel marketing and merchandising campaigns to enter the industry’s premier communication awards competition. Each year, Home Channel News selects outstanding honorees in the categories of business-to-business advertising, business-to-consumer advertising, packaging (awarded to O’Keeffe’s), point-of-purchase advertising, signage and retail to consumer advertising. The 25th Annual Golden Hammer Awards recognizes elite suppliers and retailers who exemplify the “gold standard” by demonstrating their commitment to support of sales, marketing and partnership efforts.

“Be it product or packaging, O’Keeffe’s Company has always focused on functionality,” said Tara O’Keeffe, the Company’s Founder and President of the packaging’s recent success. “Our low profile, polypropylene jar is both a design and technical innovation, featuring vibrant colors, a palm-sized ergonomic grip, and a ¼ turn lid with translucent holographic three-dimensional effect. Additionally, the “Grip Pak” can be marketed exclusively from the lid. This allows merchandising versatility in stand up trays, clip strips, floor displays, and gravity-fed wire dispensers, requiring no additional packaging. The thin structure uses less plastic and boasts an extremely low package to product ratio. Laughed a smiling O’Keeffe, “The fact that the jar is 100% recyclable is the green icing on the cake. What else would you expect from an Oregon-based company?”

The Working Hands Crème packaging was custom designed by Tara O’Keeffe-Broadbent herself. As a registered pharmacist, Tara originally developed the skin crème to help her father, a rancher, heal his painful cracked skin when existing products failed to provide relief. The crème owes its absorptive and healing properties to a glycerin- and water-based blend of ingredients which contain no oil or lanolin and are completely odorless. O’Keeffe’s products are safe and effective on all skin types and recommended by diabetic educators. “Our water-based product is more easily absorbed into the skin, allowing it to penetrate faster without a greasy feel,” said Greg Werts, Sales Manager for O’Keeffe’s. “To ensure quality, the product is manufactured and packaged in small batches at the O’Keeffe’s facilities in Sisters, Oregon.

Neither O’Keeffe’s Company nor Working Hands Crème is a stranger to awards. O’Keeffe’s Working Hands crème also won the DuPont Gold Award for Outstanding Packaging in its 2005 worldwide packaging competition. The Communication Awards Winners will be recognized during the 25th Annual Golden Hammer Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

About O’Keeffe’s Company
