Foreclosure Crisis Has Large eBay Homes Selling Below $12,000
On April 9, 2009 a large 7 bedroom, 3 bathroom, Victorian home located in New Kensington, Pennsylvania received only 3 bids when it sold out right (free and clear of liens) for $10,766.
But the Victorian home sale isn’t the only (apparent) eBay bargain. It appears a variety of home styles have been selling for less than $5,000, due to foreclosures and economic conditions in some areas.
According to James Massey, publisher of www.AffordableHousingAuctions.com, a free website which tracks the lowest priced homes selling on eBay. “In our current economic situation, people in hard hit areas are understandably scared to commit to a home purchase and it may be affecting the bidding. I’ve been watching homes in those areas (economically distressed) selling under $5,000 for sometime now.”
Massey added; “Regardless of low prices, it’s important to proceed with the utmost of caution before buying in an auction. Making sure a neighborhoods safe, the house (structurally) sound, and the title clear, should be a top priority before bidding on anything.”
