New Integrated Technology, Along with New Analog Design Team, Demonstrates CEO and Company Aggressively Investing for Future Upturn

SAN JOSE, Calif. – IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today introduced its new Power Smart technology, which will initially be embedded into the company’s integrated circuits targeted for consumer applications. The IDT Power Smart technology will integrate power management functionality into IDT devices, providing IDT customers with a wide variety of design options — prolonging battery life, improving power consumption, increasing design flexibility or any combination thereof.

The IDT Power Smart technology truly is “smart” technology. Uniquely integrating together programmable smart power management functionality with other IDT core silicon technologies allows IDT to provide additional value-add at the system level. Providing solutions targeted at specific problems allows IDT to optimize the entire system through integrating the functional blocks, thereby reducing redundancy, increasing system reliability and improving overall performance. No longer do these technologies necessarily need to be simply stand-alone functions, but by integrating the various technologies together, the resulting performance improvement is greater than merely adding the functional blocks onto a single chip.

“In today’s digital world, consumption of power is changing the way we do business and live our lives. So, at the chip level, we need to re-think the way power is used in our digital media equipment and architect it from the ground up as opposed to incorporating power as an add-on feature later in the design process,” said Dr. Ted Tewksbury, president and CEO at IDT. “This Power Smart technology is part of our commitment to extending our value and aiding in the success of our customers while expanding our market and technology leadership, which is particularly critical during these volatile times. At IDT, we are taking the approach that the current economic crisis gives us the opportunity to aggressively invest in technologies for the anticipated upturn that will help expedite the next generation of consumer devices and functionality.”

The Power Smart technology also highlights the IDT focus on being a total solutions provider by giving its customers the most power-efficient solutions on the market without sacrificing performance. The Power Smart technology also enables IDT customers to introduce new and cutting-edge functionality by utilizing board space that was traditionally assigned to a power management chip.

To fully embrace this corporatewide focus on power efficiency, IDT has formed a team of analog experts — which includes Mr. Paul Brokaw — to concentrate on incorporating power management into highly integrated Application Specific Standard Products (ASSPs) for consumer multimedia products. The team brings more than 100 years of combined analog design experience to IDT.

“Speaking on behalf of the entire analog team, we’re excited to be part of IDT. We believe in the company’s systems-oriented approach to customers’ applications and look forward to using our analog expertise to help IDT to become a more comprehensive supplier of mixed-signal system solutions,” commented Paul Brokaw, IDT Senior Technologist.

The analog design team will initially support the IDT Video and Display Operations business unit, which is currently designing and producing leading IDT DisplayPort™-compatible receivers and integrated timing controller solutions for flat-panel displays used in digital TVs, monitors and notebook computers.

The Power Smart technology and the addition of the analog design team perfectly complement Dr. Tewksbury’s philosophy for IDT. “One key element of the IDT strategy to grow as a company is to provide complete solutions, such as our portfolio of behind-the-panel components. Power management is a critical piece, where saving power and smart integration are essential components of that strategy,” said Dr. Tewksbury. “If we stay focused on the fundamentals — listening to our customers, understanding their systems and delivering unprecedented value — IDT absolutely will come out of this recession as a much stronger company.”
