New Government Campaign to Reduce Slips, Trips and Falls at Work Welcomed by Work Accident Solicitors

The UK Health & Safety Executive has launched a new campaign called “Shattered Lives” (http://www.hse.gov.uk/shatteredlives/) aimed at reducing the number of work related injuries caused by slipping, tripping and falling accidents.

With 61 deaths and over 14,000 serious injuries caused by slips, trips and falls on the job, the HSE has launched its campaign to help workers understand the importance of following health and safety regulations and the impact of workplace accidents on people’s lives.

Shattered Lives offers eLearning to teach workers in Retail, Catering, Construction, Industry, Health, Education how to identify and avoid health and safety risks. They are also planning to launch a second eLearning tool in June to help workers choose the right equipment for working at height.

Specialist work accident solicitor John Carr, of Carrs Solicitors in Bolton, says of the initiative, “Educating people will make a huge difference in preventing workplace accidents. Every day I speak to people who have suffered enormous pain and financial hardship because of injuries they received on the job. The compensation we help them obtain in no way makes up for the hardship of having to cope with a lifelong disability that could have been avoided if the right safety procedure was followed.”

Carrs Solicitors has over 16 years experience in handling work accident compensation claims for slipping, tripping and falling injuries and has recently won a £41,000 claim for a worker injured falling from height.

Managing Partner John Carr continues, “In my experience, no employer wants to be in a position of fighting a compensation claim when simply providing the right safety equipment would keep their employees safe and healthy. We encourage all businesses to make use of the new Shattered Lives campaign to learn how to stop accidents before they happen.”
