Store Defines Meaning of Customer Experience; AT&T Products and Services Brought to Life Under One Roof

Charlotte, North Carolina.- AT&T* announced today the expansion of its retail footprint with the opening of a new AT&T-owned retail store in the popular Blakeney shopping area. The store, which is nearly 5,000 square feet in size, is located at 9840 Rea Road next to the Sun Trust Bank. AT&T hired 3 new employees to staff the store location bringing the total number of employees to eleven.

“This new store is a tangible example of our ongoing efforts to invest in North Carolina’s economy and to serve our customers better than anyone else,” said Cynthia Marshall, President, AT&T North Carolina. “The location offers customers a new opportunity for hands-on exploration of AT&T’s wide portfolio of advanced voice and data products. Helping our customers make decisions that best meet their individual communications and entertainment needs is just one part of our ongoing commitment to provide Charlotte customers with cutting-edge services, streamlined customer care and greater convenience.”

“Corporate investments, such as this new store and the jobs it brings, are crucial for our economy,” said Rep. Ric Killian of Mecklenburg County. “Through private investment such as this store, in addition to its corporate philanthropy, AT&T has earned a solid reputation as a company committed to serving its customers and this state.”

This new store is part of the transition from a wireless-centric space to a high-energy retail format that showcases AT&T’s extensive portfolio of wireless, broadband, video and wireline products and services, such as the Apple iPhone and AT&T U-verseSM , which was named Frost & Sullivan’s 2009 Consumer Communications Service Product of the Year.

The store’s ultramodern design showcases the benefits of converged wireless and wireline services through six experience stations. These stations offer a hands-on approach with AT&T’s extensive portfolio, focusing on the elements that resonate most with users — TV, music, messaging, video, e-mail, data, gaming and browsing.

Each AT&T Experience Station includes:

* AT&T Advanced TV. Customers can view AT&T U-verse TV and AT&T | DIRECTV demonstrations, which allows customers to better understand Web-based and wireless remote access features, High Definition (HD) programming, as well as an extensive Video On Demand catalogue.
* Music. Customers can listen to XM Satellite Radio on wireless phones or Bluetooth® headphones while transferring and personalizing music content via mobile phones.
* Gaming. Customers can download games to wireless phones.
* Messaging and Video. Customers can experience multimedia messaging and video sharing capabilities through third-generation (3G) phones and Bluetooth accessories.
* Laptop Mobility, E-mail and Data. This station is geared toward road warriors and small business owners. Customers can test wireless phones, PDAs, smartphones, GPS and Bluetooth accessories by using e‑mail and Microsoft Corp. applications.

AT&T offers simple, competitively priced plans, cutting-edge devices like the new Samsung Impression – the nation’s first commercially available AMOLED screen, an emerging display technology that allows for lower-power consumption and one of the brightest and clearest displays in the U.S., with a full keypad underneath -- and the BlackBerry Bold, a smartphone that features a powerful combination of global 3G capabilities in conjunction with the industry’s leading international wireless coverage, built-in GPS, and Wi-Fi®.

Customers in Charlotte have access to the nation’s fastest third-generation (3G) network according to data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms which make it possible for them to use advanced services, such as AT&T Video ShareSM, a first-of-its-kind technology that allows users to share live video during a wireless call.

In addition to the wireless devices and services, the new store will also sell AT&T broadband and AT&T Advanced TV services making it even more convenient to receive all communications services from one provider.

“From the moment customers enter to the moment they leave, they will be able to experience AT&T’s full suite of services,” said Alison Hall, vice president and general manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in the Carolinas. “The new Blakeney shopping center store in Charlotte is part of a key initiative in AT&T’s commitment to integrate its wireline and wireless operations and give consumers greater convenience and a streamlined approach to the way they engage with and purchase our products.”

AT&T currently operates a total of 72 AT&T-owned retail locations across the Carolinas.
