Rockwell Collins accepting applications for second round of flood recovery funds

WEBWIRE

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Rockwell Collins announced that it will begin accepting requests for the second round of grants from the Rockwell Collins Flood Recovery fund. Grants for capital expenses and rebuilding will be made to qualified nonprofit organizations that were impacted by flooding.

Rockwell Collins established its Flood Recovery Fund after the historic June 2008 floods that devastated parts of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and other eastern Iowa communities. Following the flood crest, the company set aside $2 million from the Rockwell Collins Charitable Corporation which, along with contributions from employees, makes up the Flood Recovery Fund. Nearly $710,000 was awarded last year during the first round of grants.

“This new round of grants builds on the tremendous recovery work that has already been done and creates momentum for future projects,” said Rockwell Collins Chairman, President and CEO Clay Jones. “As a member of this community, we are committed to helping rebuild and renew the quality of life for our employees, their families and our neighbors.”

The funding will be awarded through a competitive grant process. Eligible organizations include nonprofit 501(c)(3) and public/government agencies (e.g., schools, city-owned entities, etc.) operating in Linn and Johnson counties. The organizations may apply for funding to address needs as they relate to capital expenses, rebuilding, and/or relocation support.

Grant applications are available at www.rockwellcollins.com/floodrecovery. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on April 24. Award recipients will be announced on or about June 1.
