NEW YORK CITY. – When Derek Jeter and David Wright step to the plate this season they will bat for a good cause. The New York Yankees’ All-Star shortstop and New York Mets’ All-Star third baseman are squaring off in Delta’s Jeter/Wright Batting Challenge. As the official airline and proud sponsor of New York’s two beloved baseball teams, Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) is launching the season-long friendly batting challenge to support the players’ foundations. At the conclusion of the regular season, Delta will make a $100,000 donation to the foundation of the player with the highest batting average. The results of Delta’s Jeter/Wright Batting Challenge will be determined by the highest batting average at the end of the regular season, based on a minimum of 400 plate appearances. In the event a player is unable to reach 400 plate appearances, Delta will nullify the Challenge and donate $75,000 to each player’s foundation.
