ARCHBALD, PA.- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has donated $10,000 to Forest City Regional High School in Forest City, PA, in support of its pre-engineering curriculum and technology upgrades.

In addition to the donation, Lockheed Martin engineers are working with educators to bring science, technology, engineering and math principles into classrooms in interesting and relevant ways as part of its Engineers in the Classroom initiative.

“Lockheed Martin engineers are excited about sharing their industry experience and expertise with teachers and students,” said Daniel Heller, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Archbald Operations. “It is vitally important that our students have access to robust science and math curriculum. Lockheed Martin is proud to support Forest City Regional High School in its efforts.”

Lockheed Martin engineers volunteer with local schools to help develop and inspire students into college engineering programs. Engineers serve as guest-speakers, advisors and mentors, reaching more than 2000 students annually. Each year, Lockheed Martin engineers support the local High School Robotic Challenges. For several months prior to the event, engineers work with students, advising them how to apply engineering principles to their designs.

This academic school year, Forest City Regional High School implemented a curriculum developed by Project Lead the Way, a national, not-for-profit educational program that gives middle and high school students the rigorous ground-level education needed to develop strong backgrounds in science and engineering. The engineering-focused curriculum of Project Lead the Way, which complements math and science college preparatory programs, is the basis of Engineers in the Classroom, Lockheed Martin’s innovative K-12 education outreach initiative designed to develop the next generation of engineers.
