Discovery Expands International Program Sales and Licensing Team

Silver Spring, Md. - Discovery Communications today announced new appointments and promotions within its Discovery Enterprises International program sales and licensing group, which is charged with driving sales opportunities with international third-party broadcasters and licensees. This expanded team will help guide clients through Discovery’s extensive and diverse programming library, which includes award-winning non-fiction content ranging from exploration and survival, to natural history and anthropology, to lifestyle and current events.

Holly Roessler has been appointed to the newly created position of Director of Sales Support and Marketing. In this role, Roessler is charged with managing ongoing sales support and marketing activities for international program sales and home video licensing efforts from the company’s headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Reporting to Weinstein, she will also lead marketing efforts and coordinate sales activities around major markets including MIPTV, MIPCOM, Licensing and WAEA. A ten-year Discovery veteran, Roessler most recently served as Director of Program Support, overseeing the supply of content from U.S. networks including Animal Planet and TLC to the company’s portfolio of international networks. Prior to that, she was Producer and Director of On-Air Marketing and Director of Programming for Discovery Networks International.

Elliot Wagner has been promoted to Director, Private Networks and North American Program Sales. Reporting to Weinstein and based in Silver Spring, Wagner oversees global private networks deals including airlines and hotels as well as program sales activity for the US and Canada, including program supply agreements with Discovery’s Canadian joint venture partners. In addition to managing these businesses, he is charged with expanding marketing partnerships and identifying new business opportunities. Wagner joined Discovery in 2000 and his previous roles include Sales Planner and Sales Operations Manager for Discovery Networks International.

Fiona Wallace has been appointed Director of Licensing for the UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In this role, Wallace will direct the sales and distribution of consumer product lines across Discovery’s brands and properties in the UK and EMEA. She will develop and manage home video, publishing, interactive, licensing and licensed promotions partnerships, driving ongoing sales efforts within designated territories. She is based in London, reporting to Jo Edwards, Vice President of Licensing, Discovery Enterprises International. Wallace joined Discovery in September 2008 with a track record of more than ten years experience in European licensing, having previously worked for Perry Ellis International, Inc., The Coca-Cola Company and The Beanstalk Group.

Diana Carrizosa has been appointed Director of Licensing for Latin America. In this role, Carrizosa will oversee Discovery’s licensing business across the Latin American region, growing the existing merchandise and home video lines, and developing new initiatives with partners, retailers and consumers around Discovery’s content and brands. Also reporting to Edwards, Carrizosa is based in Miami. Carrizosa joined Discovery in 2007 as Licensing Manager and has helped drive the expansion of the company’s licensing business in Latin America, including the launch of a Doki merchandise line from Discovery Kids, which now includes over 250 products. Her previous roles include Senior Category Manager for Disney Consumer Products Latin America.

Richard Henson has been appointed Director of Program Sales for Asia-Pacific. Based in Sydney and reporting to Weinstein, Henson is responsible for driving Discovery’s program sales business in the Asia-Pacific region and evaluating opportunities in each market with current and potential clients. Henson joined Discovery in November 2008 and has been working in the Australian media industry for the past 14-years, with his most recent role as Commercial Director for Nickelodeon Australia.
