HOUSTON (March 24, 2009)—Houston golf enthusiasts will want to know that one of Houston’s popular charity tournaments is bringing more potential players to their favorite game. Hall of Famer Carol Mann is hosting a Golf Basics clinic for women at her LPGA Invitational on April 13 at BlackHorse Golf Club benefiting The Women’s Home, a 52-year-old organization. www.thewomenshome.org

“If you aren’t a pretty good golfer, you may tend to skip the charity tournaments, but that’s not necessary!“ says Mann. She wants beginners to have fun, too.

“Sharing the Gift of Golf clinic will be held during the tournament,” said Mann, who developed the clinic last year and brought it back by popular demand. “This one-of-a-kind clinic will provide beginning golfers with an overview of the game with specific skills learned in the fun and friendly interactive sessions. And some of the best women golf pros in Houston will be the instructors!” she added. Underwriter of the clinic is Primary Services.

For $150 each, students will experience interactive sessions on etiquette, rules and pace of play; short and long game techniques including the full swing, chipping and putting. Additionally, clinic participants will receive a gift bag, and the sessions will conclude with golf fashions, wine and cheese. Clinic participants also are invited to stay for the Tournament Awards Dinner featuring a live and silent auction in the beautiful BlackHorse Golf Club pavilion. BlackHorse is at 1225 Fry Road in Cypress www.blackhorsegolfclub.org.

“The clinic is worth $300 per person. Several of the women playing in this year’s tournament took the clinic last year and have enjoyed a full year of golf,” said Mann, who will introduce the sessions .
