Kingsport, Tenn. — Eastman Chemical Company announced today that Cox Culinary Emporium (CCE) is introducing a line of serving ware made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Tritan, a new-generation copolyester, balances the properties of clarity, toughness, and heat and chemical resistance.

“We were looking for a material that was free of bisphenol-A (BPA), maintained clarity and integrity through continued dishwashing and use, and provided a quality aesthetic,” said Jim Cox, owner of CCE. “Eastman Tritan™ copolyester offered all those properties, as well as design flexibility.”

Targeted at both the commercial and retail markets, the CCE serving ware line made with
Eastman Tritan™ copolyester provides customers with clear, reusable serving products that are tough and shatter-resistant. The innovative serving ware line incorporates three sizes of plates and glasses in four styles, including champagne, wine, martini and manhattan. The glasses fit securely into the plates, allowing users to carry both food and a drink while keeping one hand free.

The serving ware line was initially manufactured with polycarbonate (PC) and then NAS 21, a styrene-based copolymer. By switching to Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, CCE is able to produce a more durable, clear product that also is BPA-free.

The CCE serving ware line is designed with entertaining in mind. Eastman Tritan™ copolyester offers a durable product that can be used at backyard pool parties or elegant cocktail hours without the fear of breaking. Additionally, because the reusable serving ware is made with Tritan, it can withstand the high heat and chemicals used in commercial and at-home dishwashing.

The CCE serving ware was launched at the 2009 International Home and Housewares Show from March 22 to 24, in Chicago.

“CCE is excited to solidify this line in the market,” Cox said. “With Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, we are able to offer a high-quality, innovative product that addresses an unmet need in the reusable serving ware market.”
