Two consecutive Saturdays during Black History Month, February 18 and February 25, PDM Productions will present the play entitled, “Power vs. Position-A Tale of Two Spirits”, written by playwright Trevi Pershay. The play will be held at True Worship Church Worldwide Ministries which is located at 872- 874 Crescent Street (between Stanley and Loring Streets). The showtime for both days is 6 P.M.

“Power vs. Position” is a play that depicts the struggle between two leaders (I know you don’t want to give away too much of it, but are both of these leaders Pastors? If so, which one is the main pastor and which one is the assistant?) in a Black Church; one which is led by the power of God and the other which is riding on the control associated with being in a position of power. In the midst of the power struggle between the leadership, the congregation becomes entangled in the confusion, and it allows the playwright to develop some characters many church goers are familiar with as well as be creative in introducing some not so common personalities, such as a church loose women, emotionally scarred youth, and abusive husbands.
Trevi Pershay, the playwright, is also the founder of PDM Productions, and is no stranger to residents of the East New York and Brownsville, Brooklyn communities. In 2001, she made her debut as a playwright with the play entitled, “Christmas Scrooge”, and followed this production with “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” in 2003, and more recently presented “Drama High” in 2004. With all of these successful plays under her belt, Mrs. Pershay has been touted as being the female version of Tyler Perry. Mrs. Pershay is very modest about how she takes all of the compliments she receives, about her ability to bring real issues and real drama to the stage, and says most of what she writes comes from her being brought up in the church, and from past childhood experience.

Tickets for “Power vs. Position” are $10 in advance and $12 at the door and may be purchased at the New Life Christian Bookstore in Queens, New York and True Worship Church Worldwide Ministries, located at 872-874 Crescent Street (between Stanley and Loring) in Brooklyn, New York. Also, you may call 718-341-3388 to obtain tickets.
