BEIJING – Ogilvy PR/Beijing has been appointed as PR agency-of-record for Airport City Development Co., Ltd (ACL), the developer of the Airport City Logistics Park at Beijing Capital International Airport. The account, won in a competitive pitch, will see Ogilvy PR partnering closely with the marketing team at ACL to develop long-term communications strategies in the lead up to ACL’s hosting of the Airport Cities World Conference & Exhibition in Beijing in 2010.

ACL, a sino-joint venture between Beijing’s Capital Airport Holdings and Shunyi District Peoples’ Government, has tasked Ogilvy PR with managing all of the company’s public relations efforts in China including overall strategy development, international and Chinese media relations, 3rd party influencer and key opinion leader relations programs for an initial period of 12 months, beginning in March 2009.

The assignment also includes overseeing the launch of the 1.5 million-square-meter Airport City Logistics Park (ACLP) on completion of Phase 1 and subsequent marketing campaigns, as well as expanding the digital footprint of ACL in China.

“ACL selected Ogilvy PR because we are convinced that with their impressive track record of success in the aviation, logistics and transportation sectors, they have a deep understanding of our industry and the requisite skills to add value to our communications efforts. Our Airport City Logistics Park project is at a critical stage and the communications plan to highlight its unique offering to manufacturers, supply chain management and logistics companies requires a blend of strategic planning and strong execution which we are confident Ogilvy can provide,” said Vinny Kuah, Executive Director, Corporate Marketing & Communications Department, ACL.

Ogilvy’s current logistics, transportation and aviation clients include UPS, which the agency has served for 8 years in China, United Airlines and China’s national carrier Air China.

“We are honored to partner with ACL as they strive to become the leading airport city investor, developer and operator in China,” said Scott Kronick, President of Ogilvy & Mather Group Beijing and Ogilvy PR China. “Our recognized strengths in corporate reputation building and digital PR combined with our heritage of successful media and influencer relations campaigns in China gave us the competitive advantage needed to service this account.”

“Moreover, this was a strategically significant win for Ogilvy PR because the addition of ACL to our client roster enhances our service offering in the aviation and logistics industry, as we currently represent clients spanning all areas of this sector, from the logistics and transportation companies to airlines and now the Airport City Logistics Park,” added Kronick.

ACLP is the core functional area of the Tianzhu bonded functional zone which is currently in operation.
