Each Wireless Vote Yields $1 for Boys & Girls Clubs of America

RESTON, Va. — 02/06/2006, More than likely, a majority of this week’s “watercooler conversations” will revolve around Super Bowl XL – such as, “Which Super Bowl XL Halftime Show song was your favorite?”

To answer that specific question on a nationwide basis, Sprint (NYSE: S) will conduct an innovative, exclusive text poll amongst its customers to determine the fan-favorite song from the Sprint Super Bowl XL Halftime Show. This text-message-only poll also includes an important component: each vote cast by Sprint customers will net $1 to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America, for a maximum $50,000 donation.

The poll – in which standard text message rates apply – begins Mon., Feb. 6 and will conclude Mon., Feb. 13. Sprint customers can participate in this nationwide vote by sending the word “POLL” via text message to the short code 99777. A return text message will then present the ballot to Sprint customers for voting.

“The Sprint Super Bowl XL Halftime Show garnered rave reviews,” said Steve Gaffney, director of marketing for Sprint. “In conducting this unique poll to determine the fan-favorite song, we expect high participation from Sprint customers, who for years have already demonstrated an affinity for wireless data use. Plus, Boys & Girls Clubs of America is truly a worthwhile beneficiary.”

“We are extremely grateful to Sprint for giving us such a high profile opportunity in conjunction with their participation in this year’s Super Bowl,” said Kurt Aschermann, chief marketing officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “We’re hopeful thousands of Sprint customers will text message their vote for their favorite song from the Sprint Super Bowl XL Halftime show, resulting in a generous gift to help us provide hope and opportunity for more than 4.4 million kids across the country.”
