Three Michelin tire dealers awarded Harley-Davidson motorcycles at Michelin North America’s headquarters in Greenville

What’s better than one Harley-Davidson motorcycle fitted with MICHELIN® tires? Three Harley Davidson motorcycles fitted with MICHELIN tires. Today, Michelin announced the three lucky winners of their fall 2008 “Ticket to Ride” promotion.

To qualify for the Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Michelin independent dealers were required to register for the promotion, conduct advertising and produce at least five redemptions resulting from the promotion. Approximately 80 percent of Michelin independent passenger car and light truck tire dealers across the United States participated in the contest.

The winners were presented their motorcycles in ceremonies held at the company’s headquarters today.

* Grand Prize winner: Neil Wakefield, owner of Wakefield Enterprises in Lawrence, Kan. received a 2009 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe Plus motorcycle fitted with MICHELIN tires and $2,000 in customization features for the bike.
* Runner-up: Don Phillips, owner of Lionville Car Care in Exton, Pa., was awarded a 2009 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe Plus motorcycle fitted with MICHELIN tires.
* Runner-up: Jeff Fountain, owner of Jeff Fountain Tire Sales in Wilmington, N.C., also received a 2009 Harley-Davidson Sportster Nightster motorcycle fitted with MICHELIN tires.

“Michelin’s strong network of independent dealers across the country is a driving force behind the success of the brand,” said Emmanuel Ladent, vice president sales for Michelin Americas Small Tires. “Their overwhelming response to this six-week contest, as well as their dedication to promoting and featuring Michelin products throughout the year, is tremendously important to our sales efforts.”

The “Ticket to Ride” promotion provided the gift of one MICHELIN Lifestyle Limited emergency roadside kit to consumers who purchased a set of four MICHELIN passenger or light truck tires at participating dealerships between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15, 2008.

“The success of this promotion not only demonstrates the enthusiasm our dealers have for the Michelin brand, it also reinforces our commitment to offering the most creative award programs and incentives for these loyal partners,” added Ladent.
In addition to receiving Harley-Davidson motorcycles during the awards ceremony, the three winning dealers were also congratulated by Scott Clark, chief operating officer of Michelin Americas Small Tires. Representatives from Harley-Davidson of Greenville, where the motorcycles were purchased, were also on-hand for the event.

Dedicated to the improvement of sustainable mobility, Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks, motorcycles and the space shuttle. The company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases.
