Co-op Electrical Shop Rebrands As The Co-operative Electrical

WEBWIRE

The highly successful Co-op Electrical Shop has disappeared from the online marketplace to be replaced by an improved, re-launched shop known as The Co-operative Electrical. The new-look web-based store carries the recently re-launched and re-vitalised “The Co-operative” brand and with it all the ethical and business standards associated with the UK’s leading member-run retail organisation.

Following the re-branding, The Co-operative Electrical is promising to continue offering all the great benefits that were available under its old moniker. As well as extremely competitive pricing on all appliances, free delivery is a given for all orders on the new-look website, just as it was on the old. In addition, the benefit of having a guaranteed three hour time slot for delivery is also being offered through the new online store, meaning that customers don’t have to waste an entire day waiting for their new purchase to arrive. The time slot is simply sent by SMS and email to the customer the day before their agreed delivery date, so they know when to expect it.

The Co-operative Electrical also offers an eco-friendly appliance removal scheme for certain old units. For a relatively modest fee of £17.99 a customer’s old fridge, freezer, most cookers (range cookers not included), dishwasher or laundry appliance will be taken away when their new one is delivered. That saves the customer the trouble of having to dispose of the old unit under stringent new EU electrical waste regulations known as the WEEE Directive. In addition, all new appliances are unpacked, inspected and installed for free, with the packaging being returned to the warehouse for eco-friendly recycling. Providing the electrical appliance ordered is in stock, most deliveries are made to customers within two working days.

The Co-operative group is unique in retail in that its members democratically decide how to run the organisation, and for their troubles they also get a shore of the profits every half year. A member can make that profit share larger by buying products and services from The Co-operative and thereby accumulating points. The more points they have the larger the profit share. However, The Co-operative members are also quite generous and many choose to donate their membership profit share to charity via The Co-operative Community Fund.
