IBM Wins GM Information Technology Award
ARMONK, NY - 02 Feb 2006: General Motors selected IBM to participate in the operation and support of its global IT computing infrastructure, IBM announced today. This award could be worth up to $500 million over the next five years.
Under the agreement, IBM will support the applications of GM’s Service and Parts operations as well as its manufacturing quality assurance systems. In addition, IBM will play a strong role in the integration management and operations support of GM’s worldwide IT computing infrastructure. This initiative is consistent with IBM’s focus on higher value services engagements.
IBM will help GM increase its ability to fully leverage information technology and support integration management of computing infrastructure driving the implementation of GM’s Standardized Work infrastructure processes.
Providing industry leadership in areas such as service delivery and support, supplier compliance, and proactive security management, IBM will collaborate with GM on future computing infrastructure management initiatives. In addition, IBM will continue to work with GM’s Information Systems and Services organization to define and develop new business applications to support their global business strategy.
“IBM’s expertise in developing IT systems and in managing and operating global IT infrastructures will help GM achieve new levels of IT performance,” said Frank Roney, IBM’s Managing Director, General Motors Account. “The new initiatives we’ll participate in at General Motors expand on our long-standing relationship.”
“General Motors looks forward to continuing to leverage IBM’s reach and scale in today’s globalized economy,” said Ralph Szygenda, GM’s Group Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “This expansion of our work with IBM will be an important component in our company’s global operations.”
